Afghanistan needed a leader. And we got them one.
But Karzai's administration seems to be viewed as corrupt, and ineffective.
The narco-trafficking for example has skyrocketed during his tenure (though I blame the U.S. military for that as much as Karzai).
But should we take note of the lesson we should have learned from Pakistan?
We didn't really have a Pakistan policy. We had a Musharraf policy. And it didn't end very well.
Will we make that mistake again? Should we?
And if we don't back Karzai, what should we do instead?
