Enough, for crap's sake lol So you found 40 pounds and now nothing you ever did is worth anything?..God Complex, Oprah? Tell her from me to shut the
frick up , please! She has more money than God, people around the world love her and watch her program(including in Norway) and she stuffed her face. Woman,
who hasn't done that? I recently had to get serious and lose 35 pounds for the 20th time in my life...so what? Give us a break Oprah.
There , I said it. |

R02,
The irony is, to shut her up we might have to jam something into her mouth. She might be grateful. |

Why not get them to wire her jaw shut as well? Shuts her up, helps her lose weight. Solves everyone's problems.
Mind you, if it was me I'd never unwire it again... |

Why's everybody so grumpy about Oprah?
I confess, I've never been a huge fan. But I've seen her show a few times. She seems to do OK. If I don't like it, my TV has more than one channel. I can switch it. No problem. Frankly I think she deserves a lot of credit. In a "White men's" world, she's flourished. As a Black woman, that might not be as easy as some might think. She's an empire builder. She's got a TV show. She's got a successful magazine (named after her). She's a successful movie actress. Seems pretty innocuous to me. |

I agree with you Sear...I have great admiration for Oprah and all her accomplishments, and there are hundreds that have helped people around the world...I just
think the overweight whining takes a way from all the good she has done.

Rambo,
That's why I posted that. You're behind schedule. Perhaps now you're caught up. R02, She's way ahead of me. I would not want to have to do all she's done to get where she is. She works for what she has. And if you like the work, that's fine. I'd hate it. |

I realize this is only a 'male' thread, so far? But what is it with her whining? I admit to not watching her much but when I have she has not whined
one little bit.
In fact I think I even heard a lady commenting on how Oprah never worries about her weight anymore. She has gone up and she has gone down, she even hired a full time chef that kept her trim for a couple of years and then I guess she changed her mind. But she is not whining about it. Yes there was that time several years ago she did some whining, RO2 do you get a lot of American re-runs? Maybe that is what you are seeing.
Triggered a story. I should feel so bad, but it was just plain
ignorance. Both my children had the same Kindergarten teacher. A real nice 'fat' lady and that's all I knew for years and then she must have
dieted and lost all the extra weight. We all were happy for her. A few months passed and I saw her in a grocery store and darn if she had not gained all that
weight back. I really don't know what came over me but I said to her, I thought you lost all that weight and of course I don't believe that pleased her
too much but she said 'well I have it back again or something to that effect'
I just could not keep my mouth shut though? After we had talked a bit more and I hope it was not all about her gaining it all back.
My parting words to her was "I am sorry you gained all that weight back" Oh to this day I can't believe I did that. She was probably ready to slap me. I somehow think it was kind of like a first to see someone heavy and then lose it all and then gain it all back again within probably a years time. Oh Six
If we are destroy the world we live in, in an effort to protect, we should re-evaluate our methods of security and
protection. Otherwise there is no point at all in what we do after we have destroyed our world. Oh Six

I believe I've ranted at length about Oprah here (and elsewhere) before.
I suppose she really is a microcosm of America - you see here as successful, whereas I see her as greedy, self-centered and parasitical, as well as obnoxious and opinionated with the arrogance to assume that everyone is interested in those opinions and whats more she should be paid and celebrated for giving them. She has built her celebrity on the basis of being the ringmaster of a pack of circus lions who ate men alive on national TV, and then thinks that makes her the voice of the people! Being a talkshow host for popular entertainment doesn't make you the voice of the people. Other stuff that @#$!#! me off - her new age spiritual crap, for one thing, makes her worthy of contempt and ridicule, but when someone gets so big for their britches they decide they can go by just their first name then I get sick to my stomach. I just detest everything about her and what she says about America and the popular "culture" they export to the rest of the world. |

I just detest everything about her and what she says about America and the popular "culture" they export to the rest of the world. RamboMaybe that was a 'rant' from you about her here a few months ago. Rambo I don't watch her that much to know all that about her.
I could not resist that. RO2 I guess I owe you an apology or at least an explanation. (not really an apology, because my comment was what I really thought) However I found in our little home-town news paper that evidently she has again been whining about her weight problems. She is 'now' planning a last ditch effort and going to have the stomach surgery. It didn't say she whined, but it did say she has been extremely concerned and is now planning to have the surgery. Rambo I will defend her on her many charities and others she 'truly' has helped with all the money she has made. However at this point I have lost so much information about her, I don't know if she is even married or not? Oh Six

Being a talkshow host for popular entertainment doesn't make you the voice of the people. Rambo, I'm not sure there's an intrinsic mutual exclusion between: "you see here as successful, whereas I see her as greedy". I don't know enough about her to subjectively rate her. My appraisal has been fairly objective. I've tried to skip adjectives such as "good" or "bad", and tried to skip superlatives, except for those that may objectively apply; such as, the most wealthy self-made Black woman in the U.S. (IF she is; I suspect she is among them). "self-centered and parasitical, as well as obnoxious and opinionated with the arrogance" Rambo Or independent, shrewd business woman that has managed to parlay an ego into an empire. You may not care for her. I may not care for her. But evidently millions DO care for her, as her businesses seem to be quite successful. "I have lost so much information about her, I don't know if she is even married or not? Who's her guy again? Stegman? I gather they're not married. If they were, wouldn't she call him -hubby- or something? |

I missed the Living Color thing. But I think Monty Python had something like that in one of their movies. I've forgotten which one. |

R02,
If you'd cyber-known 06 for as long as I have, you'd have no doubt she knows how to be a lady. The question is, does she know how not to be. I imagine those fortunate enough to know that are very few indeed. |

I am sure you agree with me that Grace OK...a bit over the top and judgemental, but women tend to be more that way than men and probably for good reason, women
do tend to get the short end of the stick in our culture and sometimes get a bit bitter about it...and they should..
But Humor goes along way in helping one cope with the shortcomings of society, at least that is what I believe and I am preaching lololololol and no one needs that lololol |
