"Zulu" springs to mind. Also, those dusk-to-dawn Hammer film horror fests. My favorite was "The Tomb of Lygia".

If you mean me, yes. I'm that old. MacNow Mac I don't believe many of us were born yesterday. I think I lived at the Drive Inn, and could not tell you one movie, but plenty about wrestling matches.

This is really freaky the first movie I thought of was also THE WARRIORS. I was thinking about that gang dressed up like New York Yankee baseball team and that
giant image of the mouth of that radio station woman.

I remember going to the drive-in a lot when I was very young. I usually fell asleep in the back seat of my parents car, but I remember watching a Francis the
Talking Mule movie one time.
In High School and college I went a lot too. As I recall I went to the drive-in three times while Planet of the Apes was showing. I still haven't seen it. |

I think this town was the last to do away with a 'Drive Inn. I never went once, but even people I worked with talked about going to the 'Cruise
Inn'
I think they all went to watch the movie though. Drive Inn's must
have cracked down on the 'Party time periods'
It does remind me of a story. Three of us girls wanted to go to the drive inn. (we must have heard there was going to be a keg party or something) One girl had no money to go and we had none to loan so that only left the 'hide in the trunk way' Poor Gloria (and she was such a crybaby)
We put her in the trunk and even talked to her all the way so she would not be afraid. It happened to still be 'daylight out' We got in fine and I parked in row 'eight' the party row way in the back. Gloria by this time was begging to be let out and we could not convince her to wait until dark, so she would not be seen. She started to cry and scream! 'It was so embarrassing' We kept telling her to be quiet or we would get caught, and they would throw us out, but she got even worse and louder. People around us were beginning to stare, so rather than stay and listen to her I got out and headed for the concession stand many rows down. (Oh woe is me) I had no more got in the concession stand when here came Sue-Ellen screaming the car is rolling down the rows. (She did not know how to drive and I think she had tried to drive down and get me) I yelled at her 'asking why she did not put her foot on the brake?' I never heard her story to that question. However I did not believe her, anyway. I did not believe her until I looked out and saw (my sisters' pride and joy) A perfect 1957 Blue and White complete with tail fins (Chevy Impala) going fast down the rows 'toward the 'Playground' with blood curdling screams coming from it! Now it was a OMG!! For real! I took off as fast as I could (now fearing for my 'OWN' life from my sister) I got the door open and the car stopped at row 'one' just before the play-ground. How that car missed even one 'speaker stand pole' or another parked car is still a mystery? Eight full rows! Blood screams from 'Gloria and even when stopped only a few feet from the 'Playground' full of little kids and now a 'Manager' on the scene. He (of course) was not a Happy manager. We let hysterical Gloria out of the trunk (yes still day-light) (she went in and called her mother to come and get her, and probably said 'Grace' tried to kill her.
That 'of course' a small home town, and the Manager knew my sister and was yelling 'AT ME?' Telling me to come back in the concession stand and he was calling her about what I had done. 'HE DID TOO' OH Woe was me! My sister had to leave work and have someone take her out there to get her car she had always let me drive. (That Manager was so 'Angry' with me, and would not even just let us leave) He 'Banned me from coming to the 'Drive Inn' for one month, (even as a passenger) When I was allowed to go again they 'Publicly' made me open the
trunk right in frount of everybody in line. (Sometimes that line was a mile long down the road)
Well 'I' was so angry with 'Gloria' for causing it all. (It never occurred to me the poor thing probably had claustrophobia and was truly terrified) All of that may sound 'funny' but NOW or later when I got a little 'Common sense' That truly could have been a terrible terrible disaster! That rolling car could have hit someone walking to the concession stand, another car, and to this very day I 'DON'T even like to think of that playground full of little kids. It is not one of my early teen stories I am proud of to this day. However we all 'Made Up' my Dear Sister forgave me, and so did the manager. I do feel VERY lucky that silly teen stunt did not really get someone really hurt or even killed. Freebie-girl, why did you Make me remember that story? I can't
blame this one on sear!
