SciFiGuy`s Home
(Orange County in So. Calif.)

The condominium complex where I live
was designed to resemble mountain cabins.
The unit seen here isn`t mine,
though the one I live in is similar.
I live in a 2-story unit.

This is the view out my front door.
Note the bridge which goes over a little stream.

This is the very front of the complex.
There is a beautiful lake and waterfall.

Shot of the lake from the left bank.

This is my backyard, looking slightly to the left.
A stream runs through my
backyard, which overlooks a waterfall.

Looking slightly further to the left,
there is another waterfall, though it
is a bit difficult to make out in this photo.

Note the large boulders lining the streams.
*I hate them there.*
The boulders used to be inside the streams to
create a natural "bubbling brook" effect, but about
two years ago they were removed and placed
along the banks of all the streams in order to
keep earth and silt from falling into the streams.
While the streams are now quite clean,
the natural look was destroyed, I feel.
Now, instead of looking like natural bubbling
brooks, our streams look more like
water rides at a theme park.

This shot was taken from the waterfall,
looking back towards my backyard.

The unit you see here is my
neighbor`s backyard.At the left
is the side of my condo unit.

This is my backyard patio,
looking back from the waterfall.
No, my backyard is not very
big, but I like it -- it is very relaxing.

This is looking directly out my patio door to
the stream which runs through my backyard.
Across the stream is the pool.

This is my backyard, looking to the right.
{Did I mention that I loathe those boulders
they recently put along the stream banks?!}

Yes, we have ducks, and other wildlife, too (owls, etc.).
These ducklings just hatched this very day, April 2, 2006.

Yes, the ducks unfortunately love to swim
in the pool and even in the hot Jacuzzi.
[Our pool maintenance man has gotten rich off of us!]
This photo was taken a few months later, on
September 21, 2006.Yes, there are fewer ducklings now.
...Nature in action:Crows love swooping down
and eating baby ducks. They grab them by their necks
and bop their tiny heads on the ground, knocking them
unconscious before eating them.
Ducks grow extremely fast though, and
by this age they are too big for anything to kill them.
They will be fully grown by the end of the season.

In the center, at the edge of the pool,
is a duck asleep, basking in the warm sun.

This is the Jacuzzi (spa).There are a couple of
waterfalls behind it.It is difficult to see in this
photo but the water flows down along the right side.
Then it continues on down to a stream which runs
alongside the pool area down below.

Looking down at the pool from the Jacuzzi area.
Here you can see the water from the waterfalls
flowing into a stream that runs alongside the pool.
If you look carefully, you can see that same
duck basking in the sun.

Here you can see the pool,
the Jacuzzi slightly above the pool to the left,
and the waterfalls to the right.

This is my front entrance, taken in July, 2007.
[The front door is to the right; the
small door to the left is to the furnace.]
I planted that palm tree at the end of 2002
in my dad`s honor when he passed away.

That`s the same palm tree I had planted.

Wow, SciFi, those are a lot of photos. Loved the wild life and I understand your feelings about those boulders. They will still lose dirt into the stream. Remember, "Water always wins"!
