Dt Her résumé is admittedly thin. I'm surprised to hear Gov. Palin's advocates mentioning her PTA membership as experience. I doubt they'd be mentioning that, if they had something more impressive to mention. And yes. Being a Governor of a State does suggest executive experience (what did Bush learn being Governor of Texas?). But she hasn't been Governor all that long. And yes, as Alaska Governor, she's commander of the Alaska National Guard. But that's a responsibility, not necessarily experience. As Alaska Governor, how many times did she deploy, actually command her National Guard? For what purpose? Was it for a 4th of July parade? Yes, she went to Kuwait to visit them. Dt When Governor Clinton was running against the U.S. President that had the highest popularity ratings in the history of modern statistical public opinion polling, did Governor Clinton cite his PTA membership as part of his qualification to join the U.S. federal Executive branch of government? I'm not saying Clinton was. I'm asking if Palin is. You've listed deployments. What command decisions did she make in any of those? What strategy did she dream up? Did she take her military insight from Von Clauswitz? Or Sun Tsu? The distinction I'm making is that having the responsibility is one thing. Accruing actual executive / command experience is another. The McCainys are citing former, and presenting it as the latter. They're not fooling me. Are they fooling you? "Are the actions of the Alaska guard not global and successful?" Were kind of going from apples to oranges there. I'm addressing foreign policy and national security. Whether any Clinton had PTA membership is irrelevant to foreign policy or national security. Although I think the idea of PTA involvements points out a concern for the quality of education in general...Also, what experience does Obama have in military matters, or Biden for that matter...Other then a call to "end war". Further, now that the Dutch have ended their involvement in the joint surge operations that netted 3500 various terrorist in Baghdad alone, how does that square with Obama's claims the surge was ineffective?.... PTA president of a small school district is a part-time or volunteer job. Not knocking it, but I think the job she is in line for requires more knowledge. Mayor of town of 6000 is a part time job and she was embroiled in some rather petty disputes, like sacking a librarian. About the only difficult issue she had to deal with was perhaps a stray moose wondering onto private property. Not presidential stuff. Governor of Alaska sounds impressive, but the mayor of Indianoplis commands a police and fire department larger than the Alaska National Guard. The mayor of Indianapolis faces more pressing issues than the governor of Alaska. Let's face it, governor of Alaska is a part time job, as it takes very little time to receive oil revenues and hand out sewer contracts. There is nothing in her professional or academic background that remotely suggests she's capable of assuming the office of president.

She was governor for less than two years. She has no experience with foreign leaders. When the National Guard is deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq they are federalized, which does not need the permission of the governor. Even the top National Guard officer in Alaska has stated that the governor does not have any experience commanding troops. Face it Danny, you are in a panic, attempting to justify the unjustifiable. I did get a chuckle over your list, those rescues do not get approval from the governor. The funniest was the Gold Star Parents meeting, I am sure that imparted a lot of experience to Palin. Now she has a daughter, Bristol, who is pregnant by a boy who boasts on Facebook that he doesn't want children. None of this is particularly unusual in a family, and I for one wouldn't criticise it. But for Sarah, who preaches social conservatism and the doctrine of 'sexual abstinence' for young people, it must feel strange that her own life and family has not reflected her beliefs. Now that Sarah is so much in the public eye, both in the US and beyond, it must be hard for her to carry these inconsistencies, and this is only the beginning. e.
